Designing

Its all designing now. I am designing new shapes with the shapes that I created on the mannequin earlier in the week. I really like this part, I love the designing part and the illustrations.

Knitting

We started knitting today, we got our brief and we were told that we have to make a neck piece knitted with  our own hand made yarn. This will be interesting. Practice and swatches.....!!!

Fashion Elective Begins....

I began the fashion elective today and straight away we got stuck into working. We had to use our first semester sketch book and pull many different shapes from it, then we had to choose just two shapes from all of the shape we picked. Two shapes that we felt that we could work well with and that we liked.


Then I cut the shapes out on brown paper, making then large and small. I then placed them on the mannequin in different ways to create even more interesting shapes.



Theses are some of the shape I got out of it......

I feel this is an interesting shape and I think i will be able to work with it well.

I also found this shape interesting.

Wire Sculpture

I created a 3D piece inspired by the photographs I had taken earlier on... I made wire pieces and painted them different colours like in the photos. These are some photos of when I was trying to figure out what way I wanted to display them.

Spread out but slightly touching?

All piled on top of each other?

Place them on a background to give the idea of distortion?

Or just keep it simple with just a few together?

Lines with Light

In this stop-motion I wanted to show moving lines

I used bright lights and colours in a slow shutter speed motion on the camera to create this stop-motion. I used the lights to represent the lines.

Creating Shadows

Distorting

The distorted effect that i created on my own work.

Looking at Roland Flexner

I tried printing them on acidate and then I tried layering them to create a distorted effect. The idea came from the work of the artist Roland Flexner.





His work has that distorted look about it.

Distorting Lines

I then  moved to trying to make the lines distorted. I used slow shutter speed on the camera and I created these. They look like they are moving off the page.
