Looking at Frank Gehry..

At the moment I am looking at Frank Gehry an architect best known for his design of the famous Guggenheim Museum in Spain. Many of his designs evolve from simple sketches or drawings as seen below. I find his work very interesting as it kinda relates to mine, in a sense that the experiments that I am doing are giving me images like these that could be manipulated into something very different. My plan is to use the images or sketches that I got out of my last experiment and see how for i can go with them.... how far I can go with just a simple line..... where will it take me??

Experimenting more....

I asked several people again to draw for me using their sense of touch. These are some pictures I took of people doing it. I asked then to put their hand in the box and draw what they could feel. I put the object in a box to make sure that people couldn't see it. It was interesting to see the reactions of people when they had to put their hand in a box, not knowing what was in it.

       SOME OF THE REACTIONS:
  • Pulled away quickly.
  • The drawings were very small.
  • Nervous at the fact that they cant see what they were drawing but other people could.
  • Get lost on the page very easily.

This is the results that i got from the experiment....

  • There was many different but very interesting drawings from the one object.
  • I noticed that many people tend to draw small when they cannot see what they are doing.

Issey Miyake

Issey Miyake takes something 2D like paper into something 3D like an item of clothing.....

Movement of Lines
I like how its so simple but very effective, showing movement.

Lines and Movement

All my work so far seems to look like lines and scribbles but somewhere in it all there is a feel for movement. In each experiment that I have done  not one of the images had a straight line in them, which lead me on to looking at movement.... the lines on everyone's forehead had great movement.

I myself did a few more drawings, I looked at an object across the room but I didn't look at the page.

Blind Drawings

I experimented the senses and these are some blind drawings that I achieved. I asked a number of people to draw an object blind folded, forcing them to use the sense of touch.... It was interesting to see the different results. (object was glasses)
