I began working with the matchbox rather than just the matchstick. I looked at building a flame using matchboxes. These are just some thumbnail sketches on the matchbox idea....

Some typefaces that I looked at to use on my poster, I felt that simple was the way to go in this project.

 

This was one of my first print tests, there is a few changes from this first print out to the final poster...

Some photographs I took of the matchstick in action, I looked to these photos for guidance and ideas on what I could do in my poster.

Matchsticks!

The beginnings of the object project! some of my thumbnail sketches, ones that i thought linked to matchsticks!!! also a mind map to get me started and the history of the matchstick!!

For our second project we are asked to design a poster celebrating an everyday object. the object that I got is a Matchstick. It will be interesting to see how this project goes....!!!

I looked at how i would build my letterform by making mini mackets...

This is the idea that i have decided to go along with althought i think it would say 'haywire' more if it had more wire, colour and more 'H' flying from it. I planto do all these things in my finished piece.

Still using the 'H' style i did some more thumbnails, this time adding colour and adding wire an spirals to the drawings...

I really liked the black and white different style "H"s muddled together so i worked on using that. These are some more sketches using that style.....
